 The 14th Annual Revived Harborfest 7s Rugby Tournament is almost here! Harborfest 7s has typically been held in conjunction with the Harborfest festival in downtown Racine. Unfortunately however, Harborfest the festival is now defunct and thus, Harborfest 7s has evolved. The 14th Annual Revived Harborfest 7s will be held on June 23rd, 2012 at Kennedy Park on the shores of Lake Michigan in Kenosha. While there won't be a city sponsored festival to patronize after the tournament is over, there will be a tournament aftermatch for all to partake in (as well as a live band and cheap hotel accomadations nearby).  The Annual Revived Harborfest 7s is a rugby tournament that the UW-Parkside Men's Rugby Football Club and Kenosha Vultures Rugby Club host every year, that used to coincide with Harborfest on Racine's lakefront. Why is it "Revived"? Well, there used to be a legendary mens rugby team in the area called the Racine/Kenosha Rugby Club who hosted the same tournament but sadly met their end sometime in the mid-1990s and thus the tournament went on hiatus for a couple years. With the Parkside Rugby Club being established in 1997, the Harborfest 7s tournament was resurrected and took its place as one of the quality early season venues for 7s rugby in Wisconsin. It started as just a field and some "ruggers who showed up", but has morphed into a organized, semi-finely oiled machine of a tournament, complete with pithy sloganed t-shirts, fantastic sirs, an unbeatable location (on Lake Michigan in Kenosha), and unparalleled benefits with paid tournament admission.

 This year as is every year, the Harborfest 7s tournament promises to be a great blend of rugby and socializing. Located on the lakefront of Kenosha during mid-June, this tournament gets more exciting every year. This year, we will have hardware for the winners, runnerups, and tournament MVP as well as a free post tournament social. As anyone who has been to Harborfest 7s can attest, we also have a free grillout that begins during the the tournament championship match with burgers, hot dogs, brats, chips, and pop. In addition to that, we will have Harborfest 7's t-shirts for sale (cheap!) and concessions to buy throughout the day. The captains meeting is at 8:00 AM and the first match will begin at 9:00 AM sharp.
 Throughout the recent years, teams such as the Oshkosh Pigs, Milwaukee Black and Blue (2002 Champs), Wisconsin RFC (2003 Champs), Milwaukee RFC (2005, 2006, 2007 Champs), Racine/Kenosha old boys, Milwaukee Harlequins (2009, 2010, 2011 Champs), Fond Du Lac Wolfpack, Michigan Old Boys, UW-Milwaukee (2004 Champs), UW-Eau Claire, UW-Platteville, UW-Madison, Ripon, the C-side C Men and UW-Parkside Mens have mixed it up on the pitch in beautiful downtown Kenosha.
Historically, this tournament is dominated by teams from Wisconsin. We want this successful tournament to expand and are extending our invitation to all men’s 7s rugby teams in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan as well. We offer some nice hardware (Champion, Runner-Up and MVP) and recommend all teams to stay for a great post-tournament social.
TOURNAMENT POLICY:
- Each team must submit a roster with a maximum of ten players.
- Every player must appropriately initial and sign this waiver of liability to be eligible to play: Click here for the form
- Each team must submit ten signed waivers, a team roster and the $250 entry fee to me at the captain’s meeting.
- Each team must have their representative at the captain’s meeting scheduled for 8:00 P.M. on the morning of the tournament.
Rugby clubs are allowed to enter more than one team but will require separate rosters, waivers and entry fees for each team. Players are not allowed to switch rosters.
When emailing confirmation of attendence, please let us know if you intend to stay for post-tournament social so we can prepare for your arrival.
